China Airlines' Business Class tableware collection with JIA and Clip

China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, has unveiled its latest Business Class tableware collection, faciliated by Clip, bringing together Taiwanese cultural references, contemporary design, hospitality and sustainability. The collection will first be introduced in Premium Business Class on routes to Frankfurt, Prague, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland this month, offering passengers a fresh dining experience in the skies.

Following the success of its previous Japanese-inspired Business Class tableware, China Airlines has once again partnered with JIA, the award-winning Taiwanese design brand, to create a new collection for Premium Business Class and Business Class.

Developed around the concept of Home, the collection draws inspiration from the warmth and sense of reunion associated with traditional lanterns. Their soft, rounded forms are translated into the gentle curves of the tableware, creating a welcoming and familiar dining experience onboard.

The porcelain features subtle gradients of China Airlines’ signature Sustainable Jade, combined with grayscale mountain landscapes. Reminiscent of traditional ink-wash painting, the composition brings a sense of calm and serenity to the cabin and evokes Taiwan’s natural landscape.

The Premium Business Class and Business Class collection comprises more than 30 pieces, including main plates, multipurpose dishes, stainless-steel cutlery and glassware. Bringing such an extensive range to life was made possible through Clip’s expertise in product development and manufacturing, ensuring the high level of quality, consistency and technical performance required for airline service.

Throughout the range, references to Eastern culture are translated into practical and versatile details. Among the most distinctive pieces is a gourd-shaped butter dish that also functions as a chopstick rest, combining an auspicious traditional form with everyday functionality. A pair of salt and pepper shakers takes the shape of small red lanterns, adding a warm accent to the table. A multifunctional utensil inspired by an aircraft propeller combines a dessert spoon, teaspoon and butter knife in a single piece.

The collection has also been designed to accommodate a wide variety of meal services. Individual pieces can be combined and arranged in different ways, giving cabin crews greater flexibility in presentation while creating a more varied and refined dining experience for passengers.

Through its continued investment in food and beverage, amenity design and cabin interiors, China Airlines aims to create a more distinctive and thoughtful passenger experience while reflecting its ongoing commitment to exceptional service.
