Recycled rPET blankets by Kaelis
Kaelis' DEKU blanket, made with recycled polyethylene terephthalate (called rPET), is an environmentally friendly way to keep guests comfortable in flight.
Polyethylene terephthalate is the most used type of plastic in the production of beverage containers. It can easily be recycled into new products several times over, making it a more eco-conscious option. In fact, approximately 45 plastic bottles are broken down into small chips to make each blanket, which are then transformed into fibers. In addition, making rPET results in 75% fewer CO2 emissions than traditional polyester manufacturing.
When used in textiles, as with the DEKU polar fleece blanket, rPET has the same quality and characteristics (such as high durability, flexibility and high tolerance to heating and tearing) as those made with polyester and is exceptionally durable, since the recycled fibers are reconstituted at a molecular level to make it identical to virgin polyester.
The DEKU blanket has a Compliance Certificate that verifies the Global Recycled Standard and complies with all on board requirements. For more information, contact the Kaelis team today.
