Orvecare produces face masks to support industry

By Jane Hobson

Orvecare, an Orvec brand implemented in 2013 and aimed at the healthcare and emergency services sector, has announced that it is now producing disposable Type IIR surgical face masks to support the airline industry.

"We are leveraging our healthcare division here at Orvec at the moment which is bringing online production of surgical face masks Type IIR into our UK-based manufacturing plant in Hull, Yorkshire," says William Meddings, Orvec Managing Director, in email to PAX International. "Our initial production line will be capable of manufacturing over 30 million pieces per year."

The masks incorporate a protective three-ply construction giving them more than 98 percent bacterial filtration efficiency, according to the press information supplied. They are also CE marked, splash resistant, latex free, attach with elastic ear loops, have an integrated nose clip and come packaged 50 masks per box. The masks will be available from mid-August 2020.

Orvec has been manufacturing products out of non-woven fabrics for more than 45 years, so pivoting to include surgical face masks was a "logical product" given recent levels of global demand, Meddings says. "Whilst Orvecare supplies the National Health Service here in the UK, Orvec continues to supply the worlds major airlines."
