SSP to open six outlets at PKX

By Jane Hobson

SSP Group has secured three contracts to open six food and beverage units at the new Beijing Daxing International Airport.

SSP will offer dining options that appeal to both local and international travelers. Blue Frog Bar & Grill, a casual Western restaurant in China, will open on the third-floor airside area of the airport. It will serve a selection of classic dishes with an emphasis on North American foods – steaks, burgers, sliders and ribs.

Popular Japanese restaurant Saboten will open on the second floor of the domestic airside area, marking the chain’s first appearance at a mainland airport in China. Saboten will offer samples of its signature dishes including tonkatsu sauce and koshihikari rice.

A second Saboten will open on the fifth-floor departure landside mezzanine alongside three other Asian food and beverage brands – wonton noodle maker Chee Kei, Chinese snack chain Taoyuan Village and Hungry Korean, for a modern twist on authentic Korean dishes.

“We’re delighted to have secured this new deal at Beijing Daxing International Airport and to have the opportunity to bring our market-leading concepts to this exciting new development,” said Mark Angela, CEO of SSP Asia Pacific in a release from the company. “The travel retail market in China continues to grow at a rapid pace, and these latest launches will enable us to grow our presence and gain a stronger foothold in this burgeoning region.”
