SWISS adopts Doctor on Board program

By Rachel Debling

As of August 1, doctors who are traveling on SWISS and are interested in offering their support during medical emergencies can identify themselves through the airline's Doctor on Board program, which was adopted from Lufthansa Group's original program of the same name.

Through this program, registered doctors will be easily identifiable on SWISS passenger lists so that the crew can immediately identify and discreetly approach them in the case of an inflight emergency. The program is already running on Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines flights.

Doctors can sign up for this program by visiting Lufthansa's Doctor on Board registration page. Upon registration, they will receive a one-time package that includes a one-off Miles & More mileage award, a flight voucher, a reference book on aviation medicine and more. Those who are asked to assist in flight will also receive "extra gratification from SWISS," according to the airline, and the company offers liability insurance coverage to doctors who treat patients on board its flights.
