British Airways selects SkylogistiX supply chain service
British Airways has contracted the services of SkylogistiX, a joint venture between SPIRIANT and Kuehne + Nagel, as part of a five-year agreement to manage the airline's inflight supply chain, including the implementation of the SkyLog software.
The SkyLog Control Tower will forecast, plan and provide inventory management of BA's onboard products, including:
• Forecasting equipment requirements and ensuring the right product is available with the goal of achieving 100% service levels while minimizing costs
• Global operational management of onboard products and suppliers
• Global operational management of all freight-forwarding suppliers
SkylogistiX already services BA in several capacities, including the production, publication and maintenance of aircraft catering and equipment stowage plans for all aircraft operating on BA routes.
Gerard Roche, Managing Director of SkylogistiX, said of the agreement: “We have been working with British Airways for a number of years, and we are delighted to increase the scope of services to support their visionary supply-chain transformation project. We will continue to build on the deep understanding of their business we have developed through the years, as well as the introduction of our innovative SkyLog software to build a world-class Supply Chain Control Tower.”
Rod Green, Global Inflight Supply Chain Change Manager for British Airways, also added: “SkyLog proved to be the best solution for our inflight supply-chain planning and forecasting requirements and, consequently, we have extended our strategic partnership with SkylogistiX."
