LSG Sky Chefs has opened a new inflight catering facility at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya. The 1,200-square-meter facility was built to be a fully certified Halal customer service center (CSC).

On opening day of the facility, Erdmann Rauer, CEO of LSG Group, said: “Our two countries, Kenya and Germany, have been working together in close collaboration for more than 50 years in terms of political, economic and cultural exchanges. It is, therefore, natural that we looked into the opportunity to establish a presence in Kenya.”

“It has been LSG’s longstanding tradition and understanding of entrepreneurship to create win-win situations by joining forces with partners who have a good reputation and a strong network in their home market,” noted Alfred Rigler, Head of LSG's Emerging Markets business region. “That is why we are so pleased to have found the right partners, and worked together to form a joint venture that is of mutual benefit.”

LSG first found a presence on the continent in 1978, when it established a joint venture in Cairo. Its African network is now comprised of seven CSCs in Angola, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania.

LSG Sky Chefs Kenya Ltd is managed in partnership with shareholders Apatana Investment Ltd and Continental Services Ltd.
