Avianca and Lufthansa Technik sign Total Component Support contract
The agreement covers the repair and overhaul of components for the Brazil-based airline's A320 fleet and A330 long-haul jets. A home base stock of Airbus components will be established in São Paulo, Brazil, for this purpose.
Lufthansa Technik will also aid Avianca in developing its in-house capabilities, including the maintenance and repair of safety equipment like its A320 emergency slides. The company will also oversee the production of Airbus A320neo aircraft that the airline has on order.
Frederico Pedreira, Chief Executive Officer from Avianca Brasil, said in a statement: "With Lufthansa Technik we have secured the support of a global player in technical aircraft services, whose experience and reliability we highly value. Lufthansa Technik is also the best partner for our new A320neo fleet."
Frank Berweger, Vice President Sales Americas from Lufthansa Technik, also commented: "This contract is a big success for Lufthansa Technik in the highly competitive South American market. As a strong partner, we are looking forward to supporting Avianca Brasil during the successful expansion of their business."
