Global Eagle expands inflight gaming options

By Rachel Debling

On August 27, Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) announced new deals with Hasbro and Sanrio that will expand its catalog of inflight gaming titles.

Building on a relationship that began in 2004, GEE's latest agreement with Hasbro spans the aviation, maritime and land markets and includes the development of popular board games such as Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Boggle, Scrabble, Battleship and Guess Who? The new games are slated to debut over the next two years.

Per Norén, Global Eagle Executive VP and Chief Commercial Office, said in a statement from the company: “Monopoly has been localized in many, many languages and passengers and travelers will enjoy this addition to our expanded games catalog."

In addition, GEE has signed an international deal with Japanese brand Sanrio, creator of Hello Kitty, Hello Sanrio, Gudetama and Aggretsuko, for multiple inflight games featuring its characters.

“We are proud to bring Hello Kitty and many other Sanrio brands to the skies. We have a long history of working closely with game makers to ensure the final product translates to the seatback arena in look, feel and enjoyment," Norén continued.
