DFMi spotlights supplier partnership with Keogh's

DFMi is highlighting another new supplier partner, Keogh’s. The Irish company is based on the family’s farm in North County Dublin where the Keogh family has spent more than 200 years working patchwork fields of fertile soil to produce potatoes. They have found a way to turn potatoes into premium crisps, creating a true “crop-to-crisp” experience.
At the family farm, the Keogh’s grow, wash, store and hand-cook the potatoes in small batches to ensure the quality of the ingredients and techniques going in to making the crisps are maintained.
“Our tagline “crop to crisp” pays homage to our process of turning crops to crisps, sometimes all within the same day during harvesting season.” It’s this approach, paired with generations of experience, that also inspired their passion for the environment – for the past several years, they’ve been proudly carbon neutral,” said Tom Keogh, founder & Managing Director.
The family wants to create crisps that celebrate their local region, so they also source authentic flavourings from artisanal Irish suppliers.
“We work with Taylor’s of Lusk chilies, Irish Atlantic sea salt, Teeling Whiskey, Guinness and more. In the crisps Craft Gin Clubbers are trying this August, we’ve used delicious cheese from Carbery, Co. in Cork, famous for its strong and robust flavor,” Keogh said.
Keogh’s has developed what they call a “SPUD-NAV” to make it possible to trace where ingredients in the crisps come from. By scanning the QR code on the back of the bag of crisps, consumers can learn about the potato that was used to make them.
The information is accurate “down to the field it was grown in, the seasoning used and who in the factory cooked them,” the press release said.
Keogh’s crisps are available in 12.5-gram bags for the Mature Irish Cheese and Onion flavour, while all flavours are sold in 25-gram bags.
