SSP America awarded Colorado Springs Airport F&B contract

SSP America has been awarded a contract with Colorado Springs Airport (COS) it announced in a press release on October 19. The contract will see nine dining experiences developed in the airport, under the theme of a “taste of place."
The portfolio of dining experiences and brands will be consistent with the Airport’s existing focus on passenger convenience and comfort. The lineup will celebrate the culinary landscape of Colorado and the international identities of passengers transiting through. The development of these restaurants in COS is part of the Airport’s Concourse Modernization project, which included upgrading the terminal to accommodate more passengers.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with SSP America and look forward to their plans for enhancing our travellers’ dining experience,” said Greg Phillips, Director of Aviation for COS, of the contract with Colorado Springs Airport. “The sense of place that will be created through SSP America’s local portfolio will not only support our community’s businesses but will give visitors a taste of what to expect in Colorado Springs.”

A look at the brand line up
The October 19 press release from SSP America included an overview of the nine brands that are part of the contract lineup:
- Atrevida Beer Co: Atrevida is a local craft brewer. The brand will offer an all-day, full-service menu of brewpub fare and a selection of the brewery’s draft beers, plus a full bar. Founder and Brew Master, Jess Fierro is a modern brewer and the first Latina owner and head brewer in Colorado. She is also the winner of the television series Beerland, Season One
- Camden Food Co.: A quick service market concept for travellers who are looking for food on the go. This quick service market offers passengers a menu of modern items including fresh salads, artisan wraps and sandwiches. This will be open 24/7
- Colorado Craft: Colorado Springs Chef Mario Vasquez and restauranteurs Bryan Bradigan and Dylan Currier bring Colorado Craft to the airport as one of the new concepts. The menu features chef-driven plates made from locally sourced ingredients and spins on American classics
- Drifter’s Hamburgers: This is a family friendly restaurant with affordable fast food for travellers. They serve Hamburgers, fries, salads, milkshakes, breakfast burritos and “cracked egg” handheld breakfast sandwiches
- Einstein Bros Bagels and Einstein Bros Express: This popular American bagel brand is one of the new concepts at COS serving up all day fresh bagels, made-to-order breakfasts, lunch sandwiches and freshly brewed Breakfast Blend Coffees. They also have healthy grab and go snack options and cold beverages
- Mi Casa Cantina: This restaurant is a Mexican cantina serving an all-day menu of authentic Mexican cuisine
- Peet’s: This dining concept will offer 100 percent responsibly sourced coffee per Enveritas standards, and teas prepared by meticulously trained baristas, according to the press release. Enveritas is a 501(c)(3) which works to end global poverty in the coffee industry. Sandwiches, salads and more will be tailored to the Colorado location
- Pizzeria Rustica: Travellers can grab pizza at the new concept which is an award-winning Neapolitan style pizza by local chef and restaurateur Jay Gust. Fresh made pizzas will be cooked on a wood fired oven
- Street Eats by Chef Brother Luck: This is a full-service restaurant and bar by Chef Brother Luck, featuring an all-day menu. Menu features will include the Beat Bobby Flay Sliders and famous Bacon Jam Burger featured on the Rachel Ray Show
