LIVE: Day two of AIME wraps up in Dubai

Day 2 of AIME Dubai underway in the networking lounge 

The second and final day of this year's event is underway in Dubai. The exhibition hall for day two of Aircraft Interiors Middle East, co-located with MRO Middle East, opened at 10:00 a.m. at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Opening remarks from Georgia Halliday, Conference Producer, Aviation Week Network, started the morning before delegates engaged in networking meetings and discussions, attended informative sessions and explored various technology displays on the exhibition floor. 

Hosted Session by Ubisense: 11:05 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

The first hosted session of day two took place in the GoLive! Theater, with Ian Stewart, Innovation Leader, Ubisense Ltd, discussing how to close data gaps and remove invisible waste in the MRO industry. Tracking, measuring and controlling physical process flows and reliably measuring current productivity are no longer out of reach in the aviation industry.

Onboard Hub: 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 a.m.

In the Onboad Hub, things kicked off on day two with speaker Tim Seckerdieck, Marketing & Communications Manager, Kid-Systeme, sharing insight into the company’s GeniusSERIES products.

Following Seckerdieck’s address, Neil Langridge, Technical Director and Chief Technical Author, Liberty360 Ltd and Ann Seach, Co-Founder and CEO, Liberty360 Ltd took the floor to answer the questions “What are the real implications of misunderstood or misinterpreted technical communication? Who is writing the content of your documentation, and why is this so important?”


AerQ showcases its AERENA product at AIME 2024

Dr. Praveen Srivastava, Founder & CEO, AeroChamp Aviation, also spoke in the Onboard Hub early this afternoon on the prevalence and accessibility of sustainability in cabin interiors.

Continuing the conversation on cabin interiors, Steed Hwang, Managing Director, Taiwan Lilren Trading Corporation, spoke on aircraft seating, specifically the use of textile material applied in seating.

AIME Presentation: 12:50 p.m. to 1:05 p.m.

In the early afternoon, Verena Bintaro, Director of Marketing, Communications and Partnerships, AerQ, took the stage in the GoLive! Theater to tackle the question “Why is your cabin experience not as smart as your phone?”

Bintaro discussed the future of digitized and connected cabins and how airlines can elevate the passenger experience through the use of personalized content.

AIME Fireside: 1:05 p.m. to 1:55 p.m.

The session “Addressing the Challenges faced by Airlines in Upkeep, Maintenance and Repair of Cabin Interiors” took the form of a casual fireside chat between Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations, flydubai and Jacobo Mesta, CEO, Soisa Aircraft Interiors.

The session was moderated by Dr. Praveen Srivastava, Founder & CEO, AeroChamp Aviation, and looked at how cabin interiors deteriorate quickly due to passenger usage, among other challenges related to limited post-warranty support by OEMs. The panel discussed the increasing importance of independent repair shops and DOAs for the support of cabin maintenance of airlines.

Another fireside session immediately followed, this time addressing the topic of “Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in Retrofitting Aircraft Interiors”. Moderator Nikhil Kilpady, Global Director – Aerospace and Defence, Frost & Sullivan, spoke with Salman Iqbal, Senior Manager, Technical Sourcing & Contracts, Etihad Airways about the world of retrofitting aircraft interiors and how to unlock hidden potential while optimizing space and enhancing the passenger experience.

Onboard Hub: 1:10 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.

Sam Chui, Managing Director, Sam Chui Aviation Media Consultancy, returned to AIME for day two, this time speaking in the Onboard Hub. Chui led an interactive discussion with attendees about the passenger experience on commercial flights.

Workshop by PriestmanGoode: 1:40 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.

PriestmanGoode hosted a brief workshop in the Onboard Hub on day two of AIME, with Jo Rowan, Associate Director - Strategy, leading the discussion. The topic, “Cabin shift - why we all need to be ready for the next generation of passengers?” invited conversations among attendees on what the future of the inflight experience and evolving passenger demand looks like.

After the workshop’s conclusion, the final speaker of the day in the Onboard Hub took the floo. Andrew Tarry, Global Sales Director, Percival Aviation, spoke on “Overcoming challenges with OEMs by using alternate parts”; the topic was later discussed in the GoLive! Theater as part of the session on the impact of 3D printing in supply chains.

AIME Session: 2:55 p.m. to 3:25 p.m.

Mid-afternoon, attendees gathered in the GoLive! Theater for the “Impact of 3D Printing on Cabin Supply Chains, Lead Times, and Sustainability” session, once again moderated by Dr. Praveen Srivastava.

Speakers included Stephan Keil, Managing Director, The Aviation AM Centre; Kai Witter, Chief Customer Officer, DyeMansion; Markus Glasser, Senior Vice President EMEA, EOS GmbH and Ahmad Rajei, Senior Director Design Engineering, Engineering & Innovation, Etihad Airways. The session invited discussion on how 3D printing is affecting the aircraft interiors industry through the production of alternate spare parts.

Closing Remarks: 3:25 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Halliday delivered the closing remarks for this year’s conference at the GoLive! Theater late this afternoon. While the exhibition hall remains open until 4:00 p.m., it’s a wrap on the presentations and sessions for AIME 2024. Attendees are leaving the event with a wealth of knowledge on the latest innovations in tech, trends in the MEASA region and an abundance of new networking connections.
