Munich Airport to open Christmas and Winter Market
Decorations for the Munich Airport Christmas and Winter Market
Passengers transiting through the Munich Airport (MUC) starting Friday, November 17 will be able to enjoy the Christmas and Winter Market. In a November 9 press release, Munich Airport shared that the market will open its doors at the Munich Airport Center (MAC) Forum, which is Europe’s largest outdoor covered space.
Passengers can enjoy the festive decorations and get into the holiday spirit daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from November 17 through December 31. The market will close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Munich Airport’s Christmas and Winter Market features over 40 stalls with handmade crafts, fashion, jewelry, food and beverages. The market is a great destination for Christmas shopping and enjoying a glass of mulled wine, the press release said.
There are also ice skating and curling rinks onsite, open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. while the market is running. Skates can be rented at the rink and slots at the curling rink can be booked online in advance via the airport website.
There are free events for passengers to enjoy such as ice discos, ice sculpting, Advent wreath making, puppet theater shows and visits from Santa Claus. In its press release, Munich Airport said that there will also be bands performing on stage daily from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in a variety of genres including pop, rock, funk, soul, gospel, jazz and country.
The winter light tours will also return to the airport from November 17 to December 30, the press release said. The tours last for 50 minutes and offer a chance for passengers to see behind the scenes of the illuminated airport. Tours depart from the Sportalm hut at the Christmas and Winter Market. Passengers travelling through Munich Airport can use a special QR code for three hours of free parking at the P20 parking garage when attending the Christmas and Winter Market. The press release stated that the QR code is found on the Christmas and Winter Market flyer and airport website.
