Buzz launches sustainability program
At this year's IFSA Expo, being held in Boston from September 24 to 26, Buzz Products will showcase "Join the Movement", a program meant to inspire its partners to help create a more sustainable travel industry
"Acknowledging the sheer amount of waste created by the airline industry (confirmed by IATA), Buzz has created products and programs that will allow airlines to reduce their waste and become more environmentally engaged," said a statement from the travel amenity specialist, noting that Buzz has been actively seeking to create a smaller environmental footprint for more than five years. The company says it has diverted 63 million bottles from landfills by using them in their certified ecoTHREAD™ products and has also started an initiative with its clients to reduce polybag use, bringing them closer to their goal of saving 96,000 pounds of plastic from ending up in landfills or oceans by the end of the year. Buzz also strives to create designs that achieve independent certification from reputable bodies such as Intertek, RoHS, BCI, GRS and GOTS.
"Join the Movement" includes several touchpoints:
- Plastics Reduction Program: New design options to say goodbye to polybags
- Waste Minimization: Repurposing manufacturing waste into new products
- Another Chance: Closing the loop by maximizing usability of materials and componentry
