deSter highlights milestones in 2023 Sustainability Report

deSter has released its second annual Sustainability Report, outlining the many achievements and progress made last year.
The 2023 report builds on deSter’s first Sustainability Report in 2022, which formed the foundation for much of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, the #PeoplePlanetProduct initiative.
In 2023, the company evaluated and measured progress against the goals and critical indicators set in its #PeoplePlanetProduct initiative. deSter refined its ESG strategy by conducting its first double materiality assessment to confirm the most impactful sustainability areas as described by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) of the European Union.
For its progress, deSter earned a prestigious EcoVadis Gold rating in 2023, positioning it in the top two percent of evaluated companies in the industry. Among the report’s highlights, the company said the following achievements demonstrate its holistic approach to ESG.
The company achieved a 50 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since 2019. surpassing the company’s 2025 goal of a 25 percent carbon footprint reduction on scope 1, 2 and 3. deSter also achieved a 42 percent reduction in operational waste since 2019, ensuring deSter is on track to eliminate waste by the end of 2030.
deSter also reported an increase in revenue in reusable (21 percent) and compostable (40 percent) packaging of total revenue 2023.
