Linstol journeys to plastic positive with Plastic Bank
Linstol had its headsets made of plastic diverted from oceans on display at FTE APEX Asia Expo this week, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
With its Plastic Bank Impact Program Corporate Sponsorship, the supplier aims to end the devastating issue of plastic ending up in oceans. Plastic Bank is a social fintech with a global bottle deposit program that helps end poverty and stops plastic pollution. The for profit company creates jobs in vulnerable coastal communities for those who collect the plastic, directly reinvesting money into the communities, creating infrastructure for social change.
“These headsets for Virgin Atlantic are made using plastic that we buy directly from Plastic Bank,” explains Jakob Levison, Commercial Director EMEA, Linstol. He says the opportunity is a win-win for everyone involved; for the environment, for the communities that benefit from Plastic Bank, for Linstol that purchases the recycled plastic (called Social Plastic™), and for airlines that are going to spend the money on headsets anyhow. “Now they can feel good about the effect these headsets have,” Levison tellsPAX International.
“Sustainability is an inherent part of our value system here at Linstol,” adds Kosta Angelopoulos, Commercial Director, APAC.
In partnership with Plastic Bank, Linstol has prevented more than 114,460 pounds of plastic from entering oceans since the partnership began in June 2021. That is equivalent to 2,600,000 single-use plastic bottles.
