A bright start: Inside Plaza Premium’s T1 Domestic Lounge at Toronto Pearson

By Robynne Trueman, in Toronto, Canada

PAX Business Editor Robynne Trueman takes readers through a visit to the Plaza Premium Lounge (PPL), operated by Plaza Premium Group (PPG), at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) Domestic Terminal 1.

During Plaza Premium Lounge's renovations, passengers can visit PPG’s T1 Domestic Lounge on Level 3 at Toronto Pearson, located past security screening

While Toronto Pearson’s International Plaza Premium Lounge is undergoing a renovation at present, travelers are being encouraged to check out PPG’s T1 Domestic Lounge, located on Level 3, just past security screening.

Spanning 4,900 square feet, the Plaza Premium T1 Domestic Lounge in Toronto accommodates up to 110 travelers across three distinct seating zones. There is a tranquil VIP area with comfortable sofa chairs and leather-covered swivel chairs, as well as plenty of seating in the main lounge area, across from the bar.

Upon arrival in the lounge, I was greeted warmly by Veda, who scanned my boarding pass and then directed me to the modern, bright and spacious VIP seating area. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the terminal below, it is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a cappuccino or mimosa before your flight.

Since I was on a midday departure, I experienced the lounge mid-morning, before the lunch turnover. The breakfast buffet was a delicious selection of various pastries, bagels, fresh fruit, baked beans, potatoes, eggs, and vegetable frittata. There is a self-serve coffee station, where I made a cappuccino to get my morning caffeine fix before settling into the lounge seating area to do some work prior to boarding. Outlets are located throughout the lounge so it is easy to keep your devices charged leading up to the flight.

After a time, I was brought a thoughtfully arranged plate of cheese and crackers with fig jam and a mimosa, adding to the sense of warm hospitality that is apparent from the moment you enter the lounge.

If your flight is located in the international terminal, you can arrange a buggy transfer with the front desk staff at PPL to take you to your gate. Be sure to leave yourself at least an extra 15 minutes before boarding. Veda walked me to the buggy when it was time to depart, capping off a wonderful lounge visit that set the tone for the journey ahead.
