Southwest celebrates new chapter at Hollywood Burbank Airport

Southwest executives and crew snap a picture at BUR terminal opening celebration
Southwest Airlines is celebrating a new chapter at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) as the airport opens a new passenger terminal this morning.
"As one of the regional airports Southwest serves in California, BUR plays an important role in connecting passengers to what matters most in their lives through a convenient neighborhood airport," reads the October 13 press release from Southwest. It continues, "This terminal not only gives the Burbank airport a new look, but it also allows Southwest to fly bigger aircraft with a more modern Customer Experience into the airport."
As the perennial largest carrier at BUR, operating more than half of the airport's departures, Southwest worked alongside airport leaders, the community and chaired a committee representing all BUR airlines throughout the planning process for the new terminal. That partnership helped bring the terminal to reality in a way that meets the needs of the community, airlines and the Customers Southwest serves.
The terminal brings a fresh chapter for Southwest in Burbank, showcasing the enhancements the airline is making to the passenger experience, both in the air and on the ground.
"We are excited to celebrate this milestone alongside our Employees, community partners, and airport leaders," said Andrew Watterson, Chief Operating Officer for Southwest Airlines. "Burbank and the broader LA Basin are important to Southwest and we're proud to further our partnership and commitment to the area."
