Delta One launches wine program featuring global and California producers

By PAX International Magazine Staff

Wine program takes off for Delta One

Delta Air Lines is introducing its new wine program, a thoughtfully curated collection that balances iconic Napa Valley producers with globally recognized wine regions, pouring onboard starting October 1.

Also, building on the success of passenger reaction to Champagne Taittinger poured on International Delta One, the luxurious French champagne house is available complimentary in Delta One Lounges, and will soon be available across all Delta One experiences, including Domestic routes, starting October 1.

California icons, global classics
From evaluating 1,600 wines down to a selection of 13 wines from 11 winery partners, the relaunched portfolio is designed to resonate with seasoned enthusiasts and curious explorers. The lineup reflects Delta's evolving vision: make wine more approachable, more versatile, and deeply connected to the people, places and craftsmanship behind every bottle.

"Wine has the power to tell stories in a uniquely personal way," said Stephanie Laster, Managing Director, Onboard Experience. "Our goal was to build a program that delivers exceptional quality while making wine more inviting. Every label in this collection helps connect customers to remarkable destinations, passionate winemakers and meaningful experiences that extend well beyond the glass."

The program was developed in partnership with Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, who has worked alongside Delta for more than two decades. Together, and for the first time ever, Delta and Robinson opened the curation of this collection to SkyMiles Members who participated in blind tastings. The goal was to ensure this final lineup resonates not only with wine experts but also with the passengers who enjoy it onboard.

"Our customers helped shape this program, and that's something we're incredibly proud of," Laster said. "It reflects Delta's broader commitment to listening, innovating and creating experiences that genuinely resonate with travelers."

The wineries behind the program
At the heart of the portfolio is Napa Valley and its surrounding areas, one of the world's most renowned wine destinations and a region that perfectly embodies the balance of heritage, innovation and hospitality that defines the Delta One experience.

By highlighting Napa onboard, Delta aims to give passengers a chance to experience one of America's premier culinary and viticultural destinations through the stories and people behind each label.

"Napa represents everything we love about wine as a travel and hospitality experience," Robinson said. "The quality of labels produced in region is extraordinary, but what truly stands out are the people and the farming that pour into each. These are families and vintners who have dedicated generations to their craft while continuing to innovate and elevate."

Each of these selections will be available in Delta One for six months.

  • Silver Oak: Known for producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for more than five decades, Silver Oak has become synonymous with consistency, craftsmanship and quality.
  • Trefethen Family Vineyards: As one of Napa’s founding families, Trefethen has long been integral to the fabric of the valley. Since 1968, they have tended their singular estate, earning recognition for wines that reflect both a deep respect for tradition and a commitment to innovation. Still 100 percent family-owned and operated, multiple generations of the Trefethen family continue to guide the winery today, making it one of Napa Valley's enduring success stories.
  • St. Supéry: Located in Rutherford, St. Supéry has developed a reputation for producing vibrant, expressive wines while maintaining a strong focus on environmental stewardship. Its certified sustainable farming practices and long-term commitment to waste reduction, renewable power, and resource reclamation made it a natural fit with Delta's sustainability strategy. This year's lineup will include both the St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc and St. Supéry Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Crossbarn by Paul Hobbs: Founded by renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs, Crossbarn is rooted in the values of hard work and integrity instilled during his childhood on his family’s farm in upstate New York. Today, Crossbarn brings those values to a modern expression of California wine. Through sustainable vineyard practices and gentle winemaking, Crossbarn crafts pure, vibrant and place-driven wines from diverse vineyards across California’s finest appellations. The result is a serious wine without pretense. That philosophy closely mirrors Delta's goal of making world-class wine more welcoming to all travelers, the press release said.
  • Freemark Abbey: Founded in 1886, Freemark Abbey is one of Napa Valley's oldest wineries and among the producers that helped establish the region's global reputation. Including Freemark Abbey allows Delta customers to experience a winery that has played a meaningful role in shaping Napa Valley's history while continuing to produce wines for today's consumers.
  • Patz & Hall (Sonoma, CA): For decades, Patz & Hall has built its reputation around relationships with exceptional vineyard partners and a commitment to expressing the unique character of each site. Its acclaimed wines reflect the winery's belief that great wine should capture the essence of a destination. For Delta, that focus on storytelling through place makes Patz & Hall a perfect addition to a program built around connecting travelers with destinations through wine.

Global classics onboard
While Napa provides the foundation, Delta's global network inspired an equally global approach to the remainder of the portfolio.

Global wines for Delta One

Each international wine was selected not only because of its quality, but because of its ability to transport passengers to a destination through authentic regional character.

A collection curated for approachability at 35,000 feet
At its core, Delta's wine program is designed to remove the intimidation often associated with wine, replace it with curiosity and pair with a range of onboard dishes and dining occasions.

"Wine is fun," Robinson said. "You do not need to know producers, vintages or wine speak to enjoy a great glass of wine. The beauty of travel is discovery, and wine can be a wonderful part of that journey."

Delta's industry-leading Sky Sommelier program, the first of its kind, ensures flight attendant leaders are expertly trained to deliver premium hospitality and elevate the wine experience onboard, for any customers who may have questions about the selections.

But selecting wine for an airline requires a different approach than selecting wine for a restaurant.

At altitude, lower humidity and cabin pressure can impact how aromas and flavors are perceived. Wines that perform beautifully on the ground do not always translate the same way in the air. That is why every wine considered for Delta's program undergoes a rigorous evaluation process focused on how it performs in the unique environment of flight. Freshness, balance, expressive fruit, texture and food versatility are a must, the press relesae said.

"Our customers expect a premium experience from departure to arrival," Laster said. "Every wine has to complement our culinary program, appeal to a broad range of tastes and deliver a consistently enjoyable experience in the air."

The result is a carefully balanced collection built specifically for Delta One.
