Dieter Vranckx assumes SWISS Board chairmanship
Dieter Vranckx, Chairman of the Board
Dieter Vranckx has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors at SWISS, following Reto Francioni’s decision not to stand for re-election.
Vranckx brings extensive experience with the airline, having served as CEO of SWISS from 2021 to 2024. He has been a member of the SWISS Board of Directors since 2024 and currently sits on the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group. As Chief Commercial Officer, he is responsible for the Group’s commercial activities.
Ashwin Bhat, Member of the Board of Directors
SWISS has also elected Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, to its Board of Directors. Bhat previously served on the SWISS Board from 2023 to 2024 and brings decades of experience across the Lufthansa Group and SWISS organizations.
Bhat has served as Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Cargo since April 2023, after previously holding the role of Chief Commercial Officer from March 2021. Before that, he led SWISS WorldCargo in Zurich from October 2015.
He first joined the former Swisscargo AG in 1999 and has since held several leadership roles within the organization.
With the appointments of Vranckx and Bhat, SWISS said its Board of Directors gains two leaders with significant international aviation experience and deep knowledge of the airline through their previous roles within the company.
