Star Alliance opens Terminal 3 lounge at Guangzhou Airport

Opening of the Terminal 3 lounge in Guangzhou
Star Alliance has opened its lounge at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), located in the airport’s newly opened Terminal 3.
The opening builds on the launch of Star Alliance’s first lounge in Asia in 2024, also in Guangzhou, and reflects the continued growth of its presence at one of the region’s expanding international gateways.
The opening ceremony took place in the Terminal 3 lounge, led by Ambar Franco, Vice President, Customer Experience at Star Alliance, and Qi Yaoming, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Representatives from member airlines, airport partners and media also attended.
“Lounges are a critical part of the customer experience for Star Alliance member airline passengers, supporting our vision for more seamless and effortless journeys,” said Franco. “As Guangzhou continues to grow as an important international gateway in China, this new space reflects the evolution of our lounge offering. It is bigger and better, and will deliver enhanced comfort and functionality for Star Alliance member airline customers.”
The lounge spans approximately 1,400 square meters and seats around 245 passengers. It also features a 700-square-meter outdoor garden, offering an open-air space where passengers can relax before their journey.
Open 24 hours a day, the lounge is designed to support international passengers across varying flight schedules, with spaces for rest, work and dining. It is available to First Class and Business passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold status members traveling on member airline flights from Terminal 3, regardless of cabin class.
Designed in collaboration with Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, the lounge reflects Lingnan culture and Guangzhou’s natural landscape. At the center of the space is a sculptural installation inspired by the kapok flower, the city’s emblem, reinterpreted through contemporary design.
A dedicated tea experience further connects the lounge to local tradition, with tea artists guiding passengers through the craft and cultural significance of tea.

The lounge is operated by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Business Travel Service Co. Ltd. Star Alliance said the space will support the travel experience for international passengers while strengthening the partnership between the Alliance and the airport.
“Going forward, we will continue to strengthen strategic coordination with Star Alliance and major airlines, carrying out deeper cooperation in route network expansion, transfer facilitation, and smart travel, to jointly build a better international aviation ecosystem,” said Qi.
The lounge includes rest areas, sleep pods, private rooms, reading spaces and dedicated work zones. Its dining program, developed with the five-star chef team of Pullman Hotel, features Chinese and Western dishes focused on freshness and balance.
Lounge operations have now fully moved from Terminal 1 to the new Terminal 3 lounge.
