United adds new tiered fares for premium cabins

By Kieran Ricci

Airline to offer base, standard and flexible fare options for United Polaris and United Premium Plus® customers traveling on long-haul international, transcontinental U.S. and select Hawaii flights, joining the existing basic, standard and flexible fares in United Economy cabins

United Airlines is introducing new fare options in its premium cabins to give passengers more choice when booking flights.

The airline will offer three fare types base, standard and flexible for United Polaris and Premium Plus on long-haul international, transcontinental U.S. and select Hawaii routes.

The base fare is the lowest price with fewer perks. Standard fares include extras like seat selection and checked bags, while flexible fares are fully refundable and offer the most benefits.

United says the goal is to make it easier for customers to pick a ticket that fits their needs, whether they want a lower price or more flexibility.

The airline will also expand its Polaris branding on select U.S. and Hawaii routes, with lounge access included for higher-tier fares.

The new fare system will begin rolling out in select markets this year.
