JAL introduces new product in craft whiskey series for international flights
Japan Airlines (JAL) invites travelers to discover various regions of Japan through Japanese craft whisky produced at distilleries throughout the country. This is one of JAL’s initiatives to create relationships and societal connections through air transportation.
The thirteenth product in this series is the "Single Malt Tsunuki JAL Exclusive 2025" developed by Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd., a company led by President Kazuto Hombo. The products will be available in limited quantities through international inflight sales starting this month.
Mars Tsunuki Distillery
Mars Tsunuki Distillery is located in Tsunuki, a basin embraced by lush green mountains, in Minamisatsuma City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Blessed with a warm southern climate, the unique temperature variations characteristic of a basin, and high-quality water resources, this region is also the origin of Hombo Shuzo. Here, whiskies are crafted that are as energetic as the land of Satsuma itself, featuring a profound depth of flavor developed through maturation. On the premises, the Super Arospas-type rectifying spirit still, which operated until the early 1970s, is exhibited in its original grandeur, serving as a symbolic landmark of the distillery and conveying its history and tradition to the present day.
Product Introduction
Single Malt Tsunuki JAL Exclusive 2025, a distinctive single malt whisky exclusive to JAL, expertly matured for five years in a cask traditionally utilized for aging plum wine in the land of Satsuma. Bottled at its ideal proof, its flavor perfectly harmonizes the natural strength of the malt with the elegant sweetness and acidity derived from the plum wine barrels. When poured into a glass, it releases a floral and refreshing aroma reminiscent of fresh green leaves and mint. On the palate, a smooth and pleasant fruitiness of apricot and plum lingers long as an aftertaste. This unique flavor is shaped by the four seasons of Japan and the craftsmanship of skilled artisans.
Advanced Sales Periods：
- From December 25 for flights departing between January 1 and January 31.
- From January 25 for flights departing between February 1 and February 28.
- Advanced Orders: Orders can be made through the International Inflight Sales Advance Order Service.
The product is available to JAL International First and Business Class passengers for JPY20,000 (only one bottle per person per flight).
