Brussels Airlines brings meals inspired by its sub-Saharan African network onboard long-haul flights from Africa to Brussels
Beginning this month, Brussels Airlines will offer meals inspired by its sub-Saharan African network on long-haul flights from Africa to Brussels. Brussels Airlines is the Africa expert within the Lufthansa Group, serving 18 destinations in the region. By offering regional cuisine, Brussels Airlines aims to make even more passengers feel at home onboard.
With this new initiative, Brussels Airlines enhances the onboard experience by celebrating Africa’s rich culinary heritage. Passengers traveling from sub-Saharan African destinations will be able to enjoy meals inspired by regional flavors, ingredients and cooking traditions, thoughtfully adapted for inflight service.
The meal options will rotate regularly. The first dishes to be introduced include Cape Malay braised chicken with cashew nuts, mango and coriander for Business Class, and Cod Mbongo, a traditional dish from Cameroon, in Economy Class. These menu options are available alongside the airline’s existing inflight menu.

Offering meals inspired by the rich cuisine of the African continent reinforces that promise even further. Whether passengers want a final taste of home, to hold on to the feeling of their vacation a little longer, or to discover new flavors, we are confident these African-inspired meals will be appreciated," said Philip Mortier, Inflight Product Manager, Brussels Airlines.
Recently, the airline revamped the onboard dining experience with new tableware and service procedures. On flights departing from Brussels, Business Class passengers are pampered with meals from Belgian Star Chef Glenn Verhasselt, and a new lounge will open this summer, the press release said.
