To mark the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, flydubai shared a roundup of its year in numbers. Operating flights from both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB), flydubai saw several significant milestones this year. As it celebrated 14 years of operations from its base in Dubai, the airline also carried more than 4.5 million passengers across its network this summer, a 30 percent increase compared to 2022.

“This year has been another incredible year full of opportunity and further growth for flydubai. The strong foundations we have developed were reflected in yet another strong financial performance as we announced a record profit for 2022. This exceptional performance demonstrated what we can achieve and raised the bar even higher for 2023,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai.

The Dubai-based carrier placed a US$11 billion order for 30 787 Dreamliners in 2023 and announced its plans for a US$190 million MRO facility in Dubai South. The facility will be its first purpose-built Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, set to open by 2026.
