Emirates celebrates Diwali on board and in lounges

Emirates is shining a light on Diwali, marking the Hindu festival on board its flights to and from India through November 9 to 15. The culinary offerings onboard in all classes and in select lounges will reflect with holiday.

To celebrate Diwali, passengers travelling to and from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Cochin, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, and Mumbai on the select dates will enjoy Diwali sweets, themed cocktails and mocktails in the Emirates lounges.

Passengers travelling in Premium Economy and Economy Class can enjoy motichoor laddu with their hot meal. This sweet consists of plump flour balls that are deep fried and simmered in cardamom and saffron. First and Business Class passengers will be offered a Pista roll which consists of ground cashew nut and fudge texture, with spices, pistachios and edible silver leaf, the press release said.

Emirates said that in its First Class Lounge in Dubai, passengers can enjoy a Thali set along with Kulfi Falooda, traditional Indian ice cream with saffron and pistachio. The lounge will also serve Diwali-themed menu items like dal kachori and vegetable samosas and a Phuljadi cocktail featuring Woodford reserve, chai mix, lemon, orange and agave.

In the Emirates Business Class Lounge, passengers can indulge in kachori, samosas, angoori rabdi and rasgullas, as well as Diwali cocktail Rum ta jogi with white rum, elderflower, lemon and pinch of chaat masala.

In Cape Town and Johannesburg, the Emirates lounges are serving ladoo, jalebi and burfi.

Besides the culinary features, Emirates is also marking Diwali with a selection of classic Bollywood movies on the ice entertainment system. There are up to 260 Indian movies available for passengers to view inflight.
