Korean Air orders 20 additional A321neos
Lie-flat seats in Prestige Class on Korean Air
Korean Air announced that it has ordered 20 more A321neo aircraft as part of the airline’s fleet modernization plans.
The airline’s A321neo is a single-aisle aircraft configured in a two-class layout of 182 seats, including eight Prestiigage Class seats and 174 Economy Class seats. Passengers flying in Prestige Class enjoy fully lie-flat seats.
The fleet also features the Airbus Airspace cabin to improve passengers' comfort and cabin ambiance. Passengers have Wi-Fi access throughout the journey, according to the October 30 press release.
The company also said that it has taken delivery of eight of the initial 30 aircraft it ordered so far, with the first delivery arriving in December 2022. The fleet is being deployed on short and medium-haul routes across Korean Air’s Southeast Asia, China and Japan networks.
“The A321neo is aligned with Korean Air’s commitment to reducing carbon footprint while providing exceptional services. Its contemporary design, advanced technology, and spacious interior redefine the travel experience,” said Jong Seok (Jason) Yoo, Executive Vice President and Chief Safety & Operating Officer, at Korean Air.
The airline is modernizing its fleet for operational safety, sustainability and an improved passenger experience, the press release stated. Korean Air will take delivery of the 110 next-gen aircraft in the coming years. This number includes 20 additional A321neos, 10 787-9s, 20 787-10s and 30 787-8s.
Korean Air also said it will sequentially retire its A330-300s and 777-200ERs as its next-gen aircraft enter service.
