Saudia celebrates the inaugural direct flight to RSI with Red Sea Global

Saudia is now operating direct flights to the Red Sea International Airport (RSI) in partnership with Red Sea Global (RSG). There are two flights a week to and from RSI, which is one of the future destinations of Saudi Vision 2030.

Together, Saudia and RSG celebrated the launch with a series of ceremonies in the Altanfeethi lounge at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (RUH) and onboard the maiden flight.

Passengers on the inaugural flight in a 787 aircraft designed to match the airline’s new brand identity, received a commemorative boarding pass to mark the occasion. The boarding pass also displayed the Red Sea destination logo.

During the flight, passengers experienced a unique integration of Saudi culture through coffee, fine dates, curated music and entertainment programs and a menu featuring local cuisine.

To further celebrate the first flight on this new route, the in-flight screens displayed videos sharing insight into the Red Sea destination.

Saudia’s CEO, Captain Ibrahim Koshy, and Red Sea Global’s CEO, John Pagano, spoke about their partnership and the impact of Saudia being the first airline to fly to the new destination. According to an October 11 press release, Pagano and Koshy shared that the new direct flight route is a step towards sustainable flying to RSI as part of the Wings of Vision 2030 timeline.
