Munich ranks one of the best transfer airports in Europe

A recent study by OAG (Official Airline Guide), a data collection institution in the aviation industry, reveals that Munich Airport continues to rank among the best-connected airports in Europe. According to the study, it is the sixth-best airport on the continent behind London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Istanbul and Paris Charles de Gaulle in terms of the number and quality of flight connections.
The volume and efficiency of flight connections at Munich Airport are largely attributed to the largest operator at this Bavarian transit hub, Lufthansa Group, and its partners, who quickly resumed air traffic operations after the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of September 2023, there are 79 airlines providing direct service from Munich to 204 destinations across 60 countries. Of the 204 destinations, 15 are domestic while 142 are located in 36 European countries. Direct flights from Munich also serve 47 destinations across 23 countries outside Europe.
