Ethiopian Mobile App reaches one million users

Ethiopian Airlines announced today that it has reached one million users on its Ethiopian Mobile App. The app allows passengers to book, pay, check in, board and enjoy flight status notifications in a single-window system and a mobile-cloud first strategy.

The app offers localized service, languages and payment options for Ethiopian passengers. It pioneered the inclusion of Alipay and WeChat payment options and also features 38 other payment options for global customers.

“We have made substantial investment in our digital service to elevate our customers experience with Ethiopian,” said Miretab Teklay, Ethiopian Integrated Marketing Communications Director, in today's press release from the company. “The app year-on-year revenue alone has risen 1000 percent. Currently, all touch points across the customer journey have gone digital."

He continued: "The digital service has helped us create great customer experiences. Our digitally talented technical team is working day and night to leverage emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, internet of things, block chain, biometrics and make the app a leading digital platform in the world."
