Turkish Airlines celebrates 10 years in Canada

Every photo in Take Your Seat features a director's chair. The goal of the photo book is to celebrate oneness with people, the planet and life.

Turkish Airlines has commissioned a unique gift for its diplomatic and travel partners to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of service in Canada.

A 10x10, 100-page photography book marks the milestone and highlights the “unity and similarities between Turkey and Canada,” according to a press release from Turkish Airlines. The theme of the book is ‘Take Your Seat,’ and features a director’s chair that can be found in every photograph.

“It is a symbol to inspire us to foster a sense of oneness with people, planet and life,” said the book’s author, Randy VanDerStarren, in the release. “One people means we should be able to embrace our differences. One planet advocates that we must take responsibility for our environment. One life suggests that we get to decide how best to live our lives. This book celebrates that oneness.” VanDerStarren is a global photographic storyteller.

The book was created in two cross-country expeditions exploring exotic natural wonders, history, culture and people. A section of the book contrasts the photos from Turkey with those taken in Canada.

“As visually demonstrated in this stunning work, there is quite a bit in common between Turkey and Canada,” said Zafer Bolukbasi, Turkish Airlines’ General Manager in Toronto, Canada. “Coastal and mountain views and an appetite for adventure are perfect starting points for Canadian travelers looking to widen their world via Turkish Airlines' unique homebase, İstanbul.”

He added: “We are highly pleased and proud to continue to offer a distinguished flight experience while we enter our second decade serving the Canadian market.”

Take Your Seat is a global photographic platform that celebrates the “shared human condition.” To date, Take Your Seat has captured over 35,000 images in 13 countries.
