SSP brings Warrens Bakery to LGW

By Jane Hobson

SSP Group has teamed up with UK-based Warrens Bakery to open a new outlet at Gatwick Airport (LGW).

Warrens Bakery will open at the airport’s North Terminal in early November and measures 300 square-meters and seats 138 people – enough space for individuals, families and large groups. It will offer travelers a range of Cornish pasties, made from traditional recipes and hand crimped at its bakery in Cornwall. The café will also be serving up British classics for breakfast, lunch and snacking throughout the day; breakfast baps, Belgian buns, sandwiches and pastries.

“Combining our expertise of the food travel market with Warrens Bakery’s award-winning range of baked goods, we will meet growing passenger demand for convenient, artisan food and beverage options at the airport,” said Richard Lewis, CEO of SSP UK & Ireland, in today’s press release from the company.

Mark Sullivan, Chairman of Warrens Bakery, added: “Our iconic British brand lends itself ideally to this location, offering customers quality food at affordable prices, as well as in-store theater, based on our 1860 heritage. We’re increasingly recognized as Britain’s trusted ‘hot food café and hot savory specialist’, where customers can opt for a full meal, dip in for coffee and a treat, or simply grab and go for the flight.”

Founded in 1860, Warrens Bakery now has 80 stores throughout the United Kingdom.
