Bottega bar opens at FCO

By Rachel Debling

Travelers can enjoy fine wines and good Italian food at FCO's Bottega Prosecco Bar

A Bottega Prosecco Bar opened in the T3 area of Rome's Fiumicino airport (FCO).

The bar offers a broad selection of drinks and traditional specialties in a relaxed environment.

Sandro Bottega, owner and Managing Director of Bottega, commented on the launch in a press release: “I am very happy about this Italian opening, which reflects the core values of Bottega and aims to enhance the reputation of Italy in the oenological and gastronomic fields. Indeed, Rome Fiumicino ranked 8th at the latest edition of the World Airport Awards – it’s the only Italian airport in the first 10 places. We contribute by offering our wines and our culinary tradition, made of simplicity, genuineness and taste, and we are very grateful to Autogrill and Aeroporti di Roma for believing in the project and supporting its development.”

The Bottega Prosecco Bar concept launched in 2014 on the MS Viking Line “Cinderella” cruise ship. It was created to provide visitors to airports, resorts and shopping centers with good wine, food and the "convivial Italian lifestyle."

There are now 17 locations in total, including Milan Malpensa Airport; Burgas and Varna airports (Bulgaria); and Birmingham Airport, which was named "Airport Bar of the Year” award at last year's Drinks International Travel Retail Awards. This year four more venues are slated to open in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Malaysia.

At FCO, travelers can experience the a combo of simple Italian plates with a glass of Prosecco, or another wine from the wide Bottega range.
