JAL appoints Mitsuko Tottori as President and Representative Director

Japan Airlines (JAL) announced this month that Mitsuko Tottori will move into the position of Representative Director, President, effective April 1.
Tottori is presently the Representative Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer, at JAL and will replace Yuji Akasaka in her new role. Meanwhile, Akasaka will assume the position of Representative Director, Chairperson.
Tottori started with JAL as a cabin crew member in April 1985, eventually moving into the role of Manager, The 1st Cabin Attendant Department in 2005. Since then, Tottori has taken on positions of increasing significance with the airline, being appointed as Vice President, The Narita 2nd Cabin Attendant Department, in May 2016 and Senior Vice President, Customer Experience in charge of Brand Communication in April 2023.
The news of Tottori’s appointment comes following a runway collision at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) earlier this month.
JAL Group said in its press release that it “will strive in unity towards ensuring the highest level of safety in all flight operations, continue to improve the quality of the products and services to our valued customers, and raise its corporate value and contribute to the growth and development of society.”
