Skysupply partners with CleanHub
Skysupply has announced its partnership with CleanHub, a Berlin-based start-up that collects, sorts and recycles plastic waste from coastal areas and waterways in regions without access to waste management systems.
At the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services EXPO (WTCE) in Hamburg, Skysupply and CleanHub invite visitors to a presentation by Rory Dyer, VP, CleanHub, to learn more about the start-up’s mission and the new partnership. The event will take place in hall A4 at Skysupply’s booth #4D30 on May 29, 2024, at 1:15 pm.
“CleanHub empowers brands to take immediate action on one of the biggest environmental issues the world faces today: the global plastic crisis,” the May 1 press release said. “CleanHub plans to prevent 50 percent of new ocean plastic by 2030.”
Conscious brands like Skysupply work with CleanHub to become part of this mission. On behalf of Skysupply, CleanHub is set to prevent 17,000 kg of plastic waste per year from entering the oceans. This is the equivalent of 1.7 million plastic bottles (0.5 liters).
Taking action against plastic
CleanHub is focusing on taking action on land to protect the oceans. By bringing waste collection hubs to coastal regions where they do not already exist, plastic and other materials are collected on a large scale for proper disposal. There are currently six waste management hubs in Indonesia, India, Tanzania and Cambodia.
CleanHub founders have developed an app that documents each collection. Photos are uploaded at every step, and artificial intelligence analyzes the images, checking weight, condition and GPS data of the collected plastic.
Recycle, renew, reuse and reimagine are key aspects of Skysupply’s commitment to sustainability. With each amenity kit collection and brand partnership, the company integrates eco-friendly materials such as paper pulp, krac paper, bamboo amenities, and more. The collaboration with CleanHub provides Skysupply with an additional tool to move closer to achieving net zero plastic usage.
