Flying Food Group participates in IFSA student scholarships

By Jane Hobson

Students seeking careers in the catering and onboard services industry are among those who can qualify for the scholarships through IFSA

Flying Food Group (FFG) participates in the International Flight Services Association (IFSA), and its annual academic scholarships that are awarded to recipients worldwide. In 2023, FFG helped the IFSA Foundation distribute over 25 scholarships, totalling more than $129,800, the March 28 press release said.

One notable grant is the $25,000 scholarship offered annually by the Sue Ling Gin Charitable Trust, which is associated with FFG. Gin founded a charitable trust that now receives all FFG profits before she passed away in 2014.

This scholarship was awarded to Jessica Baumgart in 2023. Jessica said via LinkedIn that she used the scholarship funds to pursue a nursing degree at UCLA.

Over the last few years, FFG has donated more than $100,000 to recipients across the United States. Since its establishment, IFSA has impacted more than 338 individuals globally, awarding scholarships exceeding $1.6 million.

IFSA extends multiple scholarships to employees of IFSA and APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) members and their families, with a focus on students seeking careers in the catering and onboard services industry, and the airline passenger experience sector.

The Foundation Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students and cover various expenses associated with attending college, including tuition, books and living costs.

Established in 1983 by Sue Ling Gin, a first-generation Chinese American, FFG is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The company provides catering services to major airlines such as Air France, Aer Lingus, Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, SWISS and TAP Air Portugal.
