THAI Smile, the low-cost subsidiary airline of flag carrier THAI Airways, has officially discontinued operations. From January 2024, THAI Smile will merge with THAI Airways. Flights will be coded and managed as THAI Airways flights. The flag carrier aims to optimize its fleet utilization and improve service as it merges the shuttered subsidiary into its main operations, including 20 A320s.

THAI Smile was introduced in 2012 as an airline "very much part of the THAI family with an extensive domestic and international network from a hub at Suvaranabhumi Airport in Bangkok for seamless connections with THAI," reads the airline's website.

The subsidiary featured a two-class configuration, Economy Class and Premium Economy Class which offered more space and comfort.

"Traveling with THAI Smile, a young and energetic cabin crew provides gracious service with warm hospitality, and the same high service levels that you experience with THAI. Similar complimentary services are also provided, meals and beverages on all flights and a checked baggage allowance of 20 kilograms in Economy Class and 30 kilograms in Premium Economy Class," the website continues.
