dnata launches WSI operations with catering and lounge services

dnata has launched Western Sydney International Airport operations with catering, ground handling and lounge services
dnata has launched operations at Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), providing inflight catering for the airport’s first passenger flights while preparing to open its first international passenger lounge. dnata is also providing ground handling.
The company catered WSI’s inaugural domestic flight on October 25, establishing dnata’s presence across several service areas at Australia’s newest international gateway, with dedicated catering facilities under development.
For its Catering & Retail business, the expansion includes a facility capable of producing up to 3 million meals annually and the operation of The Rayleigh Lounge, which expects to welcome its first passengers in November.
Catering capacity for a growing airport
dnata will initially supply airline partners at WSI from its catering facility at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. The interim arrangement will support service until its new catering center at WSI begins operations, expected in 2027.
The 3,250-square-meter facility will serve domestic and international airlines, with dnata expecting the development to create more than 200 direct jobs over the next decade as operations expand alongside the airport.
Gareth Rees, Regional Chief Executive Officer, dnata Catering & Retail – Australia and Southeast Asia, said, “There is something special about being part of an airport's very first passenger flights. We are delighted that our catering teams have helped bring this new gateway to life, and we are equally excited about the opportunity to grow alongside Western Sydney International.
Rees continued, “Our new catering facility represents a significant investment in the region and our future capabilities. We are combining modern infrastructure and operational expertise with a focus on quality, while looking to build strong relationships with local suppliers and producers. We are proud to contribute to the development of an aviation hub that will create new opportunities for Western Sydney.”
The investment will give dnata dedicated catering infrastructure at WSI as the airport develops its domestic and international passenger operations. Its plans also include building relationships with local suppliers and producers.
Local flavors shape The Rayleigh Lounge
The Rayleigh Lounge at WSI’s international terminal will offer a premium hospitality experience inspired by Western Sydney’s diverse communities and food culture. The menu will feature locally sourced ingredients and reflect the region’s culinary diversity.

Expanding an established Australian network
The WSI launch builds on dnata’s existing Australian operations, which employ approximately 8,000 people across catering, airport hospitality, ground handling and cargo.
The company supports more than 107,000 aircraft movements and processes approximately 300,000 metric tons of cargo annually in Australia. Its catering division produces and delivers more than 54 million meals each year for airline partners.
