MarfoFMA opens U.S. production facility in Kentucky

MarfoFMA aims to bring its airline catering capabilities closer
to U.S. customers while expanding capacity and developing products tailored to
the U.S. market
MarfoFMA has launched construction and operations development at a greensite production facility in Covington, Kentucky, USA, marking a significant step in the company’s North American expansion. The site represents MarfoFMA’s first production facility in the United States and will strengthen its ability to serve airline customers from U.S. departure points.
Gijs van Zon, Chief Commercial Officer at MarfoFMA, tells PAX International that the Covington facility will focus on the development and production of premium frozen meals designed specifically for airline catering. MarfoFMA will combine culinary expertise, industrial food production capabilities, rigorous quality controls and supply chain logistics to support consistent meal quality and dependable delivery.
The operation will complement MarfoFMA’s existing production network in Canada and Europe. By establishing a U.S.-based production footprint, the company aims to bring supply capabilities closer to airline customers while increasing capacity and developing solutions tailored to the requirements of the U.S. market.
The project also represents a long-term investment in the Northern Kentucky region. MarfoFMA plans to create opportunities across production, logistics, machine operations and quality functions as the facility develops. The company is transforming a previously vacant site into a modern food production operation, reinforcing its commitment to Covington as a strategic location for future growth. The Covington facility is on track to become fully operationally by mid-2027.

As part of the family-owned Fleury Michon Group, MarfoFMA draws on decades of experience in food production, airline catering and international operations.
Van Zon says the facility will combine expertise from its existing sites with knowledge of local markets and supply chains.
