China Airlines’ Takenoya menu features Kabayaki Grilled Eel for Business Class passengers on flights from Fukuoka to Taiwan

China Airlines is expanding its onboard dining program with two new Japanese culinary partnerships, bringing menus from Takenoya in Fukuoka and Marufuku Coffee in Osaka to select flights for a limited time.

From now until September 30, travelers flying from Fukuoka and Osaka to Taiwan can experience Japanese-inspired meals created with the two restaurant brands. The menus are available on flights from Fukuoka and Osaka to Taoyuan and Kaohsiung.

Takenoya, an izakaya restaurant that first opened in Hakata, Fukuoka, is known for its grilled chicken skewers and chicken dishes across the Kyushu region. China Airlines has partnered with the restaurant to mark the 50th anniversary of the airline’s Fukuoka route and the founding of Takenoya.

On flights from Fukuoka to Taoyuan and Kaohsiung, Business Class passengers can enjoy Kabayaki Grilled Eel, featuring strips of eel brushed with a sweet and salty sauce. Economy Class passengers are served Grilled Chicken Thigh and Chicken Meat Ball with Seaweed Rice, inspired by Takenoya’s signature chicken cuisine.

The airline has also partnered with Marufuku Coffee, a long-standing Osaka cafe brand, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of China Airlines’ Taoyuan to Osaka Kansai route.

The Marufuku Coffee menu is available on flights from Osaka to Taoyuan and Kaohsiung. In Business Class, the menu features a Japanese omelette, shrimp garden salad with sweet corn dressing and a choice of Cantonese Braised Pork Belly with Steamed Rice or Classic Slow-Braised Beef with Mashed Potatoes. The meal also includes honey bread and a coffee roll cake.

Economy Class passengers on the Osaka routes are served Marufuku Pudding for dessert, offering a caramelized finish inspired by classic Japanese sweets.

China Airlines said it continues to refine and diversify its onboard dining experience through collaborations with restaurant, dessert and beverage brands. Flights departing Taiwan continue to feature rotating menus from partners including Da Wan Yakiniku, T+T, Little Tree Food and Double Moon.

The airline’s dessert and beverage lineup also includes selections from Le Ruban Pâtisserie, TenRen 913 King’s Oolong Tea, U.S.-based Peet’s Coffee and cocktails by BLAH BLAH Bar.
