American Airlines expands California wine selections onboard
American Airlines is adding new California wines to select premium cabins beginning this month, continuing its investment in the premium inflight experience.
The updated selections, guided by passenger feedback, are designed to complement American’s chef-curated menus and mark the first phase of a broader refresh to the airline’s wine program.
Passengers in International Flagship First and Flagship Business will be served Truchard Vineyards Chardonnay from Carneros, Napa Valley, and Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley.
Transcontinental Flagship First and Flagship Business passengers will be offered Migration Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast and Justin Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles.
American Airlines said in its May 7th statement, the wines were chosen for their industry recognition, flavor profiles and alignment with the elevated dining experience the airline is building across its premium cabins.
Truchard Vineyards Chardonnay holds a 93-point score from Wine Enthusiast, 92 points from James Suckling and a five-star rating from Restaurant Wine. Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon is served in more than 50 countries, holds a 94-point score from Wine Enthusiast and was named the exclusive wine partner for the 77th Emmy Awards season.
Migration Chardonnay is also served in more than 50 countries and holds a 93-point rating from James Suckling and 92 points from Wine Enthusiast. Justin Cabernet Sauvignon is served in more than 20 countries. The winery was named Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year in 2015 and earned gold at the London International Wine Competition in 2024.
The rollout follows recognition for American’s inflight wine program. The airline has been honored multiple times by Global Traveler for “Best North American Wines on the Wing,” most recently in 2024.
The airline is set to announce further enhancements to the wine program later this summer as it continues to elevate the end-to-end journey for premium passengers. The updates build on previously announced premium cabin dining enhancements, including centennial inspired inflight menus.
