Foodfolk Australia unveils 9,600-sqm Perth kitchen amid sector growth

Foodfolk tells PAX International it has officially opened its new catering facility near Terminal 1 at Perth Airport, marking a major expansion for the caterer as demand grows across aviation and other high-volume industries. The site is six times larger than the company’s previous location and is now the biggest catering facility in Western Australia.
Salim Hazife, Managing Director of Foodfolk Australia, says the opening represents “months of planning and years of dreaming.” He adds that the transition reflects a milestone for the family-owned company. “This marks one of the most significant milestones in our history.”
The facility is designed to support the state’s expanding aviation sector, which is experiencing strong international growth and a surge in tourism-driven inflight catering demand. It also positions the company to meet rising needs in healthcare, ready meals, frozen meals and large-scale events.
Hazife highlights the team effort behind the move.
“Moving a 24/7 operation is no small feat. What made it truly special was the way our people came together.”
He emphasizes that the expanded operation is intended to benefit multiple industries across the state. “It is about creating the capacity and flexibility to deliver tailor-made, fresh and frozen ready-to-eat meals to high-volume industries, at the highest standards.”
The Perth opening comes as Foodfolk progresses on a permanent Melbourne facility scheduled for completion in early 2026. Strategically located near the country’s second-busiest airport, the site will target growth in aviation catering and the expanding ready and frozen meals market.
Hazife notes that the company is well positioned for the next stage of its development. “This is just the beginning of the next chapter for Foodfolk WA.”
