Lucie Lalanne, Deputy CSR Director, Newrest, discusses the company’s ESG initiatives at the ACA Leadership Symposium

At the inaugural ACA Leadership Symposium in Amsterdam this February, Lucie Lalanne, Deputy CSR Director at Newrest, shared insights into the caterer’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, highlighting its dedication to sustainability and technological advancements in airline catering.

Newrest’s sustainability strategy is guided by its CSR Charter, which is built upon nine key pillars—six environmental and three social. Lalanne emphasizes the company’s focus on reducing food waste, improving waste management, promoting sustainable purchasing and cutting carbon emissions as part of the Charter.

“Sustainability runs deep through global Newrest operations, with units implementing various initiatives,” Lalanne tells PAX International. “Many units worldwide are transforming organic waste into compost or biogas, depending on country regulations and culture.”

Newrest publishes an annual CSR report detailing its progress, with the latest edition released in January.

The brand-new CSR report recalls the group’s CSR approach, structured around the nine key pillars, as well as its commitments to the planet and its collaborators. It presents numerous environmental and social actions implemented in 2024 around the world among its more than 45,000 employees.

“A big thank you to those who contributed to the success of these initiatives and to raising stakeholder awareness,” the company wrote in the release. “Thanks to your involvement, the group progresses every day towards achieving its ambitious CSR goals.”
