Video clip: LSG Sky Chefs EMEA CEO talks growth and innovation
Interview with Alfred Rigler, CEO, LSG Sky Chefs EMEA in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
During the Airline Catering Association’s (ACA) inaugural Leadership Symposium in Amsterdam, The Netherlands last month, Alfred Rigler, CEO of LSG Sky Chefs EMEA, shared insights with PAX International on the company’s involvement in the event, plus its recent achievements and strategic initiatives for 2025.
As one of the founding members of the ACA, which was created to function as a representative body for the needs of airline caterers, Rigler says the topic of standardization remains front and centre in the complex business.
“We need to align with our customers on standardization to make our life a little bit easier and also to meet future commercial expectations. And this is only possible through standardization,” he says.
For the diverse region he oversees, encompassing Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, Rigler tells PAX International the company has many goals for the future.
“You cannot say the region itself has one goal—there are many goals. In Africa, the goal is to gain more market share and to continuously improve daily operations and personnel. There’s an operation in place where we are developing young talents to secure the next generation of managers—and for me that is a big topic, aside from winning customers and making them happy.”
Meanwhile in India, LSG Sky Chefs is focused on the “massive development opportunities” in the country as airlines continue to grow. The caterer recently secured a 15-year concession with Bangalore International Airport.
“In India there is a high expectation for airline catering. On the classic airline catering side, the legacy carriers are focused on high-quality, more personalization and pre-order— demand which will increase more intensely in the coming years—and we have good plans for that,” Rigler says.
