Salim Hazife, Managing Director, Foodfolk Australia, discusses recent achievements and plans for the upcoming WTCE
Last year was a majorly successful year for Foodfolk Australia. At last month’s ACA Leadership Symposium in Amsterdam, PAX International sat down with Salim Hazife, Managing Director at Foodfolk, to talk about its recent achievements and plans for the year ahead.
“2024 was an amazing year for us,” Hazife affirms. “We achieved our long-term goal of opening our first catering centre outside of Western Australia—which was a long-term dream of ours.”
In the fall, the Perth-based caterer announced its successful first delivery from the Melbourne facility with Royal Brunei Airlines, a significant step as Foodfolk expands its presence beyond Western Australia.
“Winning Royal Brunei Airlines in Melbourne was a real achievement, and it’s going to set us up for a lot of growth in the near future,” Hazife says.
The caterer is preparing to open its new Perth facility later this year which will triple the company’s production capacity, allowing it to manage all business functions under one roof, further improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
The caterer also recently secured a three-year catering contract with South African Airways.
“We are delighted to continue our collaboration with South African Airways. This contract renewal is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, and we look forward to contributing to the enhanced travel experience of SAA passengers,” Hazife says.
Looking ahead to next month’s WTCE in Hamburg, Hazife says the caterer is excited to share more details about its units in Perth and Melbourne. Foodfolk is building a 10,000-square-meter kitchen in Perth and a 4,000-square-meter kitchen in Melbourne. The caterer will preview videos of both sites at its booth, as well as demonstrate its family-business ethos.
