Lufthansa updates menu for short and medium-haul Business Class routes
Lufthansa updated meal selection
Lufthansa is introducing new meals on short and medium-haul flights in Business Class from February 26. The latest catering concept offers travellers more choices of hot and cold dishes and passengers can look forward to delicious starters, main courses and desserts. It combines local cuisine and European influences with selected, high-quality ingredients from all over Europe. The new meals were created jointly by celebrity chef Johann Lafer, Lufthansa's culinary teams and catering partner Gate Gourmet.
On routes with a flight time of around two hours, Lufthansa passengers will be able to choose from a wider range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cold dishes. On long routes with a flight time of three hours or more, travellers will be able to choose between three hot dishes instead of the previous two.
It is free to select these dishes in advance from home with "Pre-Select" – pre-ordering from a selection of up to nine hot dishes is possible for flights lasting more than two hours. This allows passengers to enjoy a wider choice of meals and at the same time supports optimized planning, which promotes a more sustainable use of food. The more targeted loading aims to reduce overstocking and food waste.
"The introduction of ‘Pre-Select’ on Lufthansa's short and medium-haul routes underlines our ongoing efforts to offer our guests a consistently high-quality and uniform travel experience," said Caroline Drischel, Senior Vice President Customer Journey, Lufthansa Group. "The option of pre-ordering meals is already offered on SWISS flights and is also planned for Austrian Airlines."
"When developing the meals, we attached great importance to regional origin and sustainability," said Heiko Reitz, Chief Customer Officer, Lufthansa Airlines. "We made a conscious decision to use local and selected European products. Lufthansa guests can look forward to a new treat for the palate."
