Emirates to offer meal boxes inflight for Ramadan
Emirates is serving up meal boxes for fasting passengers during Ramadan this month and will reflect the “spirit of togetherness and generosity” with Iftar boxes at the gate while offering traditional Ramadan dishes in its lounges, the press release said.
Ramadan meal boxes onboard
Beginning today, March 11, passengers travelling on Emirates and observing Ramadan can break their fast in all cabins to select destinations with Ramadan meal boxes. The bespoke boxes designed by Emirates, “Represent the rich Emirati heritage of the Al Sadu weavers. This traditional community weaving practiced by Bedouin women of the UAE who handmade accessories in distinctive geometric patterns, [reflecting] the community aspect of the Holy Month,” the airline said.
Inside the meal boxes, passengers will find light bites including hummus with spinach, Arabic bread, tabbouleh with baba ghanoush and sandwiches made with Moroccan or za'atar chicken with pickled garlic mayonnaise. Sweet treats inside the boxes include almond chocolate or Arabic baklawa, cashew nut and pine seed baklawa flowers and traditional dates. These boxes are available in addition to the airline’s regular hot meal service.
Emirates’ crew will make announcements onboard during the flight so passengers are aware of iftar and imsak timings throughout the journey.
Iftar boxes at boarding gates
Fasting passengers at select Emirates Boarding Gates during iftar time will receive complimentary iftar boxes to help break the fast. The boxes contain water, laban, a banana, and dates.
