AirAsia passengers can now enjoy Santan 92’ Signature Blend specialty coffee, made from 100 percent coffee beans with no additives when flying on the low-cost airline. In its press release, AirAsia said that the beverage has a 92-point rating from Coffee Review, The World’s Leading Guide.

Santan offers robust flavor in capsule format, eliminating the need for inflight coffee machines. According to the press release, the coffee is made possible through Santan’s extraction technology, creating a blend that dissolves in water at any temperature and crafts a flavorful, aromatic cup of coffee.

“This milestone achievement with Santan elevates the quality of service for each guest and our commitment to providing the best-inflight experience for those flying Asia’s Best Low-Cost Airline. With Santan, passengers are greeted by the rich flavor and aroma of great coffee and are treated to even more comfort onboard our flight,” said Ricky Isla, the AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer.

Passengers on AirAsia flights can order the Santan 92’ Signature Blend in five drinks prepared inflight:

  • Classic Americano
  • Caffe Latte
  • Caffe Mocha
  • Iced Spanish Latte
  • Coconut Latte

For the Iced Spanish Latte and Coconut Latte, Santan partnered with Malaysia’s tech-driven coffee brand ZUS Coffee, the press release said. The partnership combines Santan’s freeze-drying process for beverages with the Malaysian brand’s signature recipe and ingredients.

“Thanks to Santan and AirAsia, we’re able to now make specialty coffee accessible inflight too, and starting this with Santan’s hero product Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak and ZUS Coffee’s fans’ favorite Iced Spanish Latte is a meaningful way of introducing Malaysian flavors to a wider community. We’re truly grateful that with Santan and AirAsia, we’re creating more feel-good moments with coffee, now in the sky,” said Stephy Foong, ZUS Coffee's Vice President of Growth & Marketing.

Passengers on AirAsia can take home the capsules for an energy boost at their final destination. The press release also noted that Zus Coffee is set to open five more branches in the Philippines this year, with plans to expand to 100 locations nationwide in 2024. The company debuted in the Philippines last year with ZUS Coffee Eastwood, Quezon City.

Seasonal flavours
Beyond the inflight dining offerings on AirAsia, Santan has more culinary news this season. Passengers onboard domestic and international flights with AirAsia Philippines can enjoy the introduction of Bibingka inflight. Now until the end of December, passengers travelling for the holidays will be treated to this seasonal dessert, paired with hot chocolate or coffee.

In addition to the dessert, the press release said that AirAsia is debuting other culinary items this quarter, including a Mango Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Lasagna.
