LSG Group opens new service center at OVB

By Rick Lundstrom

LSG Sky Chefs announced today the official opening of a new Customer Service Center (CSC) at Novosibirsk Tolmatschowo International Airport (OVB) in Russia, where it has been present through a joint venture agreement with airport owner Novaport since 2012.

The new center will help accommodate growth of the airport. Passenger traffic has increased from 3 million to 6 million over the past six years, making it the largest air transit hub beyond the Ural Mountains. As of today, the airport offers passengers more than 2,000 practical combinations of pairs of connecting routes.

The joint venture, which goes by the name Tolmachevo Catering, is managed jointly by majority owner Novaport and LSG Sky Chefs. However, LSG Sky Chefs oversees the entire operation. The new catering facility employs 350 people and has the capacity to produce up to 16,000 total meals per day for customers like Siberia Airlines, Alrosa Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, the Ural Airlines, Yakutia Airlines and some charter carriers.

“The opening of this new facility is an important milestone in our cooperation with Novaport,” said Alfred Rigler, Head of the LSG Group’s Emerging Markets region, during the opening ceremony. “Our trusting partnership goes beyond our presence in Novosibirsk. It also includes an in-flight catering facility in Chelyabinsk. Both locations have experienced a remarkable development over the past several years.”

With a network of 12 locations across Russia, LSG Sky Chefs holds the leading market position in the country. Its presence there dates back to 1989, when it established the first joint venture with Aeroflot at Moscow-Sheremetyevo.
