Icelandair introduces on-demand Business Class amenity kits with artist Inga Elín

Icelandair Business Class amenity kits by artist Inga Elín
Icelandair has presented its new Business Class amenity kits – a collaboration with the renowned local artist Inga Elín. Once again, Icelandair has commissioned Skysupply, one of the world’s leading suppliers of inflight equipment, to implement the project.
Following the success of the previous amenity kits, Skysupply has developed a concept that combines a strong reference to Iceland and its art scene with a focus on sustainable, meaningful and long-lasting products designed for second use and unique experiences during and after the journey.
The Business Class amenity kits for Saga Premium and Saga Premium Flex guests feature two sizes (small and large) of cotton drawstring bags. Skysupply used existing abstract patterns by the local artist Inga Elín, inspired by typical Icelandic weather phenomena and water patterns. The first designs selected for the launch are Lækur and Bylur. The color scheme aligns with Icelandair’s corporate colors, white and blue, and the carrier’s minimalistic aesthetics. Each bag carries a small label naming the specific weather or water feature (e.g. Bylur for blizzard, Lækur for creek, Vindur for wind, and Flæði for flowing water) along with the artist’s name, printed in blue on white. The drawstrings feature a textile tag branded with the Icelandair logo.
Along with the amenity kit, Icelandair is introducing a fresh approach to sustainability and personalized onboard service: on-demand kits. Passengers can choose their preferred contents from an amenity kit selection outlined in the drinks menu. The bags are then filled with individually selected items. Options include: a sleeping mask with a pattern that matches the bag, a paper-wrapped dental kit with a bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste, paper-wrapped earplugs, socks, as well as lip balm and hand cream from Verso Skincare. Verso Skincare, a Swedish brand with a strong Nordic ethos, shares Icelandair’s values, the press release said. Their commitment to innovation and smart, science-based products aligns with the carrier’s philosophy. Verso promotes sustainable skincare and has a focus on equality and diversity – principles Icelandair also champions.
The cotton bags further contribute to sustainability. Useful for carrying cosmetics and small items during the flight, they can be reused afterwards for cords, jewelry or other belongings. By offering on-demand kits, Icelandair aims to reduce onboard waste and deliver a more conscious, deliberate approach to amenity distribution, both for the airline and its passengers.
Inga Elín, a local artist best known for the Veltibolli cup available in more than 200 patterns, brings the spirit of Iceland to each journey. Her work reflects the deep contrasts of the Icelandic landscape: the soft and strong, the minimal and intricate, the practical and expressive. Rooted in the natural world, her art gives voice to the elements, projecting the environment that surrounds her – from powerful northern winds to calm creeks and waterfalls. Inga Elín is the perfect ambassador for Iceland and Icelandair, inviting passengers to experience this unique land and to take home lasting memories through the amenity kit.
